Peer Review Process

All the articles published in “Themes in Science and Technology Education” have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and reviewing by at least two anonymous reviewers.

Reviewers’ allocation

The reviewers are members of the editorial board and other distinguished scientists working on the field and especially on the submitted article’s topic. The reviewers’ database is continuously being updated.

Review workflow

“Themes in Science and Technology Education” follows the OJS editorial and publishing process, http://journals.sfu.ca/present/locale/en_US/edprocesslarge.png.

Criteria

The reviewers use internationally accepted criteria to ensure a high quality and concrete review, clear to the authors. The reviewers use a certain review form, http://earthlab.uoi.gr/theste/index.php/theste/about/submissions. Authors are also properly informed about the review form during the submission process.

Review period and procedure

Typically a manuscript is reviewed within two months.

The submitted manuscript is sent for blind review to two experts within a week. In the case of refusal, other reviewers are appointed within a few days. In a month, reviewers submit the review form where specify their comments. Reviewers may also upload comments in separate files such as the manuscript with comments on it. The reviewer may select one of the following recommendations: accept submission, revisions required, resubmit for review, decline submission. The final decision is made by the editor. The author is notified immediately. The revised manuscript is usually submitted by the author within 2 weeks, together with a separate file with answers to reviewers. The editor decides about the final status of the manuscript. The editor usually sends the new version of the manuscript to the same reviewers. The final decision is made by the editor.
